We arrived back in Crystal Palace after our visit to London Zoo. We had already opted to eat at the Thai Crystal on the Triangle. Good food, well run and pleasant staff. Standard London eating out prices.
We left London Zoo and headed back through Regent's Park towards the tube station but decided to call into the Smokehouse, a pub and eatery. Actually, we sat outside in the sun so I can't comment on the inside of the building. The bar we used was outside as well. A refreshing drink was had before heading off again towards the tube station.
The Aquarium is just inside the entrance of London Zoo. It is a long building and contains a wide range of aquatic habitats. I'm pleased I went in. It's the best aquarium I have visited.
One of the top attractions of London but not cheap. After paying for the entry for the 2 of us, guide book and donations, I had forked out over £60. But it was worth it, given the Zoo's crucial conservation work. Big queues but we were through the turnstile in just a few minutes.
We decided to go to London Zoo in Regent's Park so we had to walk through the Avenues to get there. We decided to stop off for a few minutes to enjoy the gardens.
One of the few restaurants I hadn't previously tried in Crystal Palace, until Saturday 30th July that is. The Urban Orient serves Vietnamese food. For me it has the added bonus of being able to bring our own alcohol, subject to a £3 corkage fee. That massively reduces the cost of the night out. Food was good quality and reasonably priced. It is however a bit small and crowded - a sign of its popularity?
I paid another visit to Crystal Palace Market, held each Saturday. Always worth a visit if you are in town. I finished at the Antennae Cafe for a coffee.
