Paris: Hotel Mercure
Friday 21st - Sunday 23rd August 2015
Our hotel for our Paris weekend was the Mercure, on Rue Lafayette. It was a 2 minute walk from Gare du Nord, a definite positive point for us.
The hotel is quite basic but comfortable. We had no complaints about it.
Paris: View from Sacre Coeur

Lunch consumed. Time to walk off a few calories. We didn't walk far to get to Sacre Coeur. We went there to have one last look over Paris before heading home. It is always worth returning to this location. It's a great view of the city.
And then it was time to head back to the hotel, get our cases and head for Gare du Nord for the train back to London.

Time for lunch and in Montmartre, we were spoiled for choice. We opted for Au Cadet de Gascogne. Good food but I made the mistake of ordering a large beer. It was a bit too large for me.

A short walk from La Maison Rose brought us to the top of Montmartre. It was packed with people. The artists were also out in force.

We cheated. After coffee we decided to get a taxi to Montmartre rather than walk. We were dropped near La Maison Rose, a pink-painted bar and restaurant on Rue de L'Abreuvoir. I had had enough coffee so we had a bottle of wine instead.
We sat outside as the drizzle had gone. Buskers provided music. One earned a euro from us.
