Use the ferry to get around Stockholm

Stockholm ferry Feb 16 (2)

Sunday 21st February 2016

Our last day in Stockholm and we wanted to go to the Vasa Museum. Rather than walking, we decided to take the ferry. It was almost a direct route to the Museum. Very convenient.

Samborombon

Saturday 20th February 2016

We returned to the Malardrottningen, visited the bar and then headed back out into Stockholm. We were looking for a restaurant that served specifically Swedish food. We found Samboromban, at Stora Nygatan 28. It was a good choice. I can especially recommend the elk burger.

Corner Bar in Stockholm Old Town

Corner Bar Stockholm Feb 16 (3)

Saturday 20th February 2016

We found the Corner Bar whilst walking through Stockholm Old Town. A long thin bar with uncomfortable benches and tables. After a beer we moved on.

Cafe Nova

Saturday 20th February 2016

It was difficult to find a cafe/bar open in Stockholm on a Saturday at 4.30pm After another search, we found Cafe Nova at Jarntorget 82. We weren't after a large meal as we were planning to eat out that evening. A piece of pizza from Cafe Nova did the job. The cafe itself was small and as it was busy, it was tightly packed.

17 Osterlanggatan

17 Osterlanggatan Stockholm

Saturday 20th February 2016

After the ABBA Museum, we walked back towards the old town but as we had had no lunch, we were also in search of food. We eventually found 17 Osterlanggatan (both the address and name of the bar/restaurant). Sadly, they were too busy to take more food orders. We had a coffee and then moved on in search of food.

The ABBA Museum

Saturday 20th February 2016

Just across the road from the Skansen Museum is the new ABBA Museum. I suspect this is now a firm favourite for people visiting the city. I certainly recommend it. Good fun and an interesting mix of traditional exhibits (such as costumes and the famous ABBA helicopter) and interactive displays (I decided not to do any singing and dancing).

Skansen Open Air Museum

Skansen Museum Stockholm Feb 16 (1)

Saturday 20th February 2016

We walked from our hotel in the morning of 20th February to the Skansen Museum. This is the world's oldest open air museum. Enter through the turnstile and you immediately confronted by a cliff face. The museum is at the top.

February was possibly not the best time to visit as many of the buildings were closed. Nevertheless, it is a great place to experience life over the past few centuries in Sweden. There is also a small zoo with animals native to the country.
