I went to the Woodhorn Museum in Ashington, Northumberland, on Sunday. The Museum was hosting an invasion of alien characters from film and tv. I was able to meet up with daleks, Chewbacca, Princess Leia and Klingons. Good fun and lots of childhood memories.
Woodhorn is a mining museum so we popped in to look at the history of coal mining in the Northumberland area. Visitors start in the late Victorian period and pass through to the late twentieth century when the mining industry had closed down. Quite a useful place to visit for those interested in social history.
