Lowery's at the Chandlery, Berwick

After our walk around the town walls at Berwick, we called into Lowery's at the Chandlery. It has a great location next to the walls and overlooking the estuary. It was quiet when we went in. We were only after a coffee but went for an ice cream as well.

After the Glendale Show we drove to Berwick for a pleasant walk along the town walls with a great view of the mouth of the Tweed.

We have not been able to go on a summer holiday this year. We have too much happening back home - including our goats having babies and needing to be milked. We are hoping to get away at some point during the winter. We decided to have a staycation instead, a week based at home but visiting attractions in the region. The staycation started on Sunday 28th August with a visit to the Tall Ships Race at Blyth. Monday 29th August saw us head back to Northumberland, this time to the Glendale Agricultural Show near Berwick.

Our trip to the Tall Ships Race in photos. We last saw the Tall Ships Race when it came to Newcastle about 10 years ago. We drove to a park and ride north of Blyth and then picked up the bus to the Blyth port area. A sensible decision as parking in the town would have been impossible.
