New York: Battery Park
On the southern tip of Manhattan Island is Battery Park. As with Central Park, I've visited it each time I've been in New York. Fort Clinton sits in the centre of the Park. Ferries to Liberty Island and the Statue of Liberty leave from the park.
A trip there would take up most of the day and we had already done the trip in 2012.
The Park contains a number of sculptures. Arguably the most famous is the Sphere by Fritz Koenig. It had originally been placed between the World Trade Center Towers and had survived 911, though rather battered. In its battered form it is now in Battery Park.
One of the other sculptures we saw was the Mandolin by Tony Craggs.
And finally, no photo story about Battery Park is complete without a picture of the Statue of Liberty in the distance.
