We asked the taxi driver to drop us short of the hotel. He dropped us at Madison Square Park, next to the Flat Iron Building which I wanted to photograph. It was also a chance to see the Fata Morgana sculpture by Teresita Fernandez (see above). Also on view is the statue of David Farragut, the 19th century US Admiral who saw action in the wars against Britain and Mexico and in the Civil War.
